Vladimir Kagan’s sculpted ‘Contour’ series of furniture was first produced in 1953 by Kagan-Dreyfuss – a New York-based company founded by Hugo Dreyfuss and Vladimir Kagan in 1950 – and remains one of the most sensual pieces of Modern American furniture ever created. With fluid, curvilinear styling the Contours series seems eschews the notion of design mandates and problem solving and simply exists to look good. But it does more than look good, the scene-stealing Contour chair is also quite comfortable and found early fans with celebrities including Marilyn Monroe, Lily Pons, and Gary Cooper. More than 60 years after it was produced the chair is still in production today. Here are a few of the Vladimir Kagan’s sexy Contour chairs.
