Above: A joyous Charles and Ray Eames, 1950’s

Sharing a private joke during a photo shoot. The center image has gone on to become the quintessential photo of the Eames.
Clearly Charles and Ray Eames are among the most influential designers of American Modernism. With countless works of theirs in continuous production since their introduction the impact of this husband and wife team is still being felt today. I could go on about their designs and the importance of these pieces but that would take more time and space than I have here (but definitely a future feature). Another thing about Charles and Ray Eames that I find particularly interesting is the amount of photos there are of the couple – these two were not camera shy! It would seem that the Eames’ documented almost everything about their work and lives and what they didn’t photograph themselves, others took of them for dozens of publications, from Life Magazine to Art & Architecture Magazine. Here’s a small sampling of photos of Charles and Ray Eames, photos that make me think that if Charles and Ray Eames were around today they would have an amazing Instagram feed!
